Database Administrator Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team at Northwest Administrators, Inc. As a key member of our software development team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and performance of our mission-critical databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer SQL Server databases, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Manage database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Create and manage user accounts, define access controls, and adhere to security best practices
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and bottlenecks, and implement optimization techniques
  • Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and enhance database performance
  • Maintain knowledge of SQL Server clustering technologies, including Failover Clustering, Always-On Availability Groups, and data encryption
  • Create a knowledge base of topics such as backup/restore procedures, performance tuning, and security best practices
  • Participate in knowledge transfer and document best practices, procedures, and solutions
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production environment
  • Strong knowledge of DB administration, T-SQL, security, performance optimization, and data encryption
  • Ability to work independently and as a productive team member
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and identify root causes
  • Strong customer support skills, with a focus on delivering excellent service
