Overview:
As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Patient Care Technician Senior delivers essential patient support under the supervision of nursing personnel, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
The Shoreline Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit is a specialized 36-bed facility dedicated to the care of patients recovering from cardiac surgeries, including open-heart procedures.
Our unit accommodates a variety of cardiovascular and thoracic patients, including those who have undergone CABG, heart catheterizations, valve replacements, and thoracotomies, along with general medical-surgical patients who may have cardiac-related diagnoses requiring telemetry monitoring or critical cardiac medications.On our unit, we emphasize proactive training to identify potential medical concerns early, enabling our staff to act swiftly and effectively in urgent situations.
We provide numerous opportunities for patient assessments, family education, IV therapy, wound management, lab analysis, and medication administration. Our nurse-to-patient ratio typically ranges from 1:3 to 1:6, depending on patient needs.A unique aspect of our unit is that we operate within a heart-focused hospital, ensuring high demand for our services and minimal cancellations for our staff.

Key Responsibilities:
- Exemplifies the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Responds to patient inquiries and assists with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitors and records patients' nutritional intake and fluid consumption.
- Tracks and documents vital signs, including temperature and blood pressure, and communicates any changes to nursing staff or physicians.
- Supports nursing and medical staff during procedures and assists with wound care.
Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
B. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required; 3-5 years is preferred.
C. Certifications: BLS certification is mandatory. National PCT Certification, which includes Phlebotomy and EKG training, is preferred.
