About the Role

As a Lifeguard with the YMCA of Southern Maine, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our members and guests. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, you will be responsible for supervising the pool environment, providing safety instructions, recognizing and responding to emergencies, and rendering CPR and first aid in accordance with YMCA policies.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all pool users
  • Provide clear and concise safety instructions to members and guests
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies, including drowning and other aquatic-related incidents
  • Render CPR and first aid as needed
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director and other staff to ensure seamless pool operations
Requirements
  • Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid certifications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
  • Ability to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
