Job Description

BEUMER Group is a leading manufacturer of intralogistics solutions, offering a wide range of products and services to meet the needs of various industries. As a Controls Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing machine control systems for our sortation machines, high-speed loop sorters, and line sorters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate customer requirements into programmatic design, ensuring seamless integration with our products.
  • Design and program machine control systems for various BEUMER products, including sortation machines, high-speed loop sorters, and line sorters.
  • Prepare and test PLC hardware for projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering teams to define I/O networks and electrical design drawings.
  • Work with engineering teams to select and test peripheral equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Participate in in-house testing at BEUMER offices to validate machine control systems.
  • Prepare as-built documentation for every project, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Participate in on-site machine control commissioning, ensuring smooth and efficient system deployment.
  • Contribute to the development of new features and equipment, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and innovations.
  • Collaborate with sub-contractors in the controls and electrical area, specifying scope and deliverables, and supervising timely delivery.
  • Create or maintain documentation to optimize general workflow and improve processes.
  • Develop and maintain training documentation, providing training for new hires and ensuring knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in R&D projects, driving innovation and improvement in machine control systems.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of machine control concepts, fundamental mathematical techniques, and programming of Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
  • Ability to evaluate controls engineering problems, program machine controls, and solve controls issues independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to lead a team of controls personnel, with a focus on mentoring and developing team members.
  • Ability to concisely audit, document issues during commissioning, and drive the team to maintain quality.
  • Ability to effectively track issues and communicate with on-site supervisors to resolve problems during commissioning.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in EE/CE or equivalent practical training and experience.
  • 8-15 years of controls engineering experience, with a focus on machine control systems and PLC programming.
  • 3-5 years of BEUMER MC experience, with a focus on machine control systems and PLC programming.
  • English language proficiency (Level B2), with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
