About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Service Engineer I to join our team at Daifuku Automotive America Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining our material handling systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain material handling systems and equipment
  • Perform electrical, electronic, and mechanical repairs, and identify and analyze product failures
  • Determine and recommend products, systems, or services that best fit customers' needs
  • Lead and direct the work of others, and make decisions based on business needs
  • Observe equipment in operation, execute test cycle operations, and use precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Complete preventive maintenance requirements on equipment, following site-specific procedures and operations/maintenance manuals
  • Perform site-specific projects as assigned, and ensure proper tracking of parts used to ensure consignment inventory accuracy
  • Interpret engineering drawings, assist site installation crews, and perform engineering studies to develop reliable and optimum solutions
  • Create bid documents, facilitate meetings and negotiations with subcontractors, and create customer quotes
  • Supervise other associates, and supervise skilled trades
Requirements
  • Strong PLC programming skills in a hands-on field construction environment
  • Ability to choose and manage subcontractors, manage schedules and budgets
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to speak with clarity and interface effectively with customers and peers
  • Ability to react to changes proactively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned
  • Broad-based customer focus, and commitment to resolve problems and make decisions based on business needs
  • Strong communication skills for interface with customer engineers, and proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D modeling software experience (minimum 2 years)
  • BS technical degree in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering, or equivalent
  • Zero to three years' experience in material handling and conveyor engineering for the automotive industry, or zero to three years' experience in a construction or manufacturing environment
