Safety Management Systems Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Management Systems Specialist to join our team at Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the company-wide Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure operational safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and implementation of the SMS, including the 10 essential elements of API's Recommended Practice 1173 Pipeline Safety Management System.
- Perform analysis and job functions related to elements of the SMS, including risk analysis and continuous improvement.
- Conduct risk-based reviews of company operations to determine the level of operational safety and compliance and opportunities for improvement.
- Complete operational risk evaluations and assist with the identification of risk reduction strategies.
Requirements:
- Must possess computer and analytical skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in a computer, business, or engineering-related discipline.
- Five years of experience in utility operations, quality assurance, continuous improvement, risk management, or audit.
- Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from cyber-attack, damage, or unauthorized access.
- Required to maintain a valid driver's license.
- May be subject to substance abuse testing and background checks.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with inspecting, evaluating, and communicating changes to operational processes.
- Experience with risk identification and mitigation.
- Previous experience leading or participating on continuous improvement teams.
