Food Service Operations Manager

St. Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college, is seeking a Food Service Operations Manager to support the operation of the Campus Center Food Court, Phil's. This position is responsible for overseeing the work of students in the dining area, ensuring the quality of food preparation, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and oversee the work of students in the Phil's Dining area.
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring items are properly made, using standardized portions, and monitoring the quality of items.
- Serve food in a timely manner from a fast food-type menu while providing excellent customer service.
- Train students to work at all stations (grill, fryer, subs, and cash register).
- Ensure the cleanliness of the dining and food preparation areas.
- Maintain inventory, stock food, stock coolers, prep food, sweep and mop, take out garbage and recycling, wash pots, pans, and dishes.
- 2 Student Lead workers and 15 Student workers
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of food service experience with strong short-order cooking experience.
- 1 year of supervisory and cash handling experience.
- Ability to obtain Serve Safe certification/training.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
- Ability to interact politely and resolve customer service issues.
- Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
- Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions in an expeditious manner.
- Skilled at setting a good example for others.
- Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
- Ability to pass a post-offer functional capacity test.
- Generally a position where you are standing and walking most of the shift. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling no more than 30 lbs occasionally. Will need to walk into freezers (extreme temperatures) for short periods. Will need to move within the work area with occasional meetings in other buildings on campus.
