Role: Mechanical Quality Assurance Inspector

Location: Remote with travel to supplier sites
Contract Type: Ongoing contract
Work Schedule: Approximately 8-16 hours per week - 1099 contractor

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Mechanical Quality Assurance Inspector will travel to various supplier locations to conduct visual and dimensional assessments on manufactured components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
  • Inspections will be performed in accordance with engineering specifications, customer purchase orders, industry standards, and relevant specifications.
  • The inspector is responsible for documenting inspection results and communicating accept/reject findings directly to the client through a web-based application.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in conducting in-process and final inspections on intricate machined components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
  • Familiarity with engineering requirements as specified by ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or equivalent standards is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and purchase orders is required.
  • Experience with a variety of mechanical inspection instruments, including micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges, height gauges, CMM, and hardness testers is necessary.
  • Experience with First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9102 standards is required.
  • Preferred candidates will have at least five years of inspection experience in aerospace or military/defense manufacturing and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Candidates should be technologically proficient and possess a laptop for this role.
  • Independent contractor status is required.
  • Must have an LLC/DBA or be able to establish one.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
