Job Summary
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a skilled OSP Designer to join our Utility Design Engineering team in Nashville. As a key member of our team, you will work with industry-leading internet service providers across the United States to provide network engineering services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with fielding tasks, including engineering design notetaking, aerial and underground data collection, and pole data collection.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of applicable building codes and design codes, including NEC and NESC.
- Review jurisdiction documentation and determine design parameters within Right-Of-Way with parameters provided.
- Identify basic components for site design in a Telecommunications fiber network.
- Exhibit understanding of basic Telecom, Fiber-Outside Plant (OSP) design, including FTTX, MDU, wiring diagrams, splicing schematics, equipment types, and design FTTX network with parameters provided.
- Design/draft permit drawings with minimal guidance.
- Prepare specialty drawings, including utility company submittals, railroads, interstate crossings, landmark designs, and other complex designs.
- Design Fiber-Optic network (FTTx) using ArcGIS software or client-designated software with parameters provided.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or related engineering degree preferred.
- Prior experience in linear utility engineering and design, and fiber-optic/coaxial OSP design preferred.
- EIT license preferred.
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, or similar software packages preferred.
- Experience with Vetro and IQGeo is preferred.
- Knowledge of local city, county, and state and utility permitting regulations preferred.
- Must be willing to travel to job sites as needed (maybe 10%).
- Valid drivers license required.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
