Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced OSP Designer to join our Utility Design Engineering team in Nashville, TN. The UDE team works with industry-leading internet service providers across the United States to provide network engineering services.
The OSP designer will be responsible for planning, designing, documenting, and permitting proposed new outside plant backbone, middle mile FTTx, Passive Optical Network (PON, G-PON, XGS-PON), Centralized and Distributed Split Architecture, and BAU build-outs.
Our utility design professionals provide turnkey land management services, including right-of-way (ROW) acquisition and engineering, utility coordination, deed and title ownership research, environmental permitting, civil/site engineering, and subsurface utility investigation.
We employ the most advanced survey methods available and conduct fielding tasks without supervision. We gather and utilize field data for railroad, waterway crossings, and controlled access permits.
Our team demonstrates understanding of applicable building codes, design codes (NEC, NESC, etc.), and reviews jurisdiction documentation and field data to determine design within Right-Of-Way.
We design FTTx networks proficiently and design/draft construction and permit drawings with minimal guidance. We design fiber-optic networks using ArcGIS software or client-designated software with minimal supervision.
We conduct QC review of junior OSP designer's work product, including constructability review. We create Bill of Materials and assist in preparing Project proposals, including scope of work, fees, and schedules.
We assist with client management, including project status updates, submittals, and approvals. We assist with tracking project, submittal, and approval status. We assist with project proposals, including fees and schedule.
We coordinate in-house professionals and subconsultants to complete all aspects of project design. We have a basic understanding of project finances.
Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or related engineering degree preferred. ~5+ years of experience in linear utility engineering and design, experience in fiber-optic/coaxial OSP experience preferred.
Proficiency in ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, or similar software packages with the ability to design projects through completion. Knowledge of local city, county, and state and utility permitting regulations preferred.
