Job Summary:

The Waste Management Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the waste management department, including waste collection, disposal, and recycling programs. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including employees, customers, and community groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement waste management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimize waste collection and disposal services.
  • Supervise and manage a team of waste management professionals, including collection drivers, maintenance personnel, and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective waste management practices and minimize environmental impacts.
  • Develop and manage budgets for waste management programs and services.
  • Monitor and report on waste management metrics, including collection rates, disposal costs, and recycling rates.
  • Provide training and support to employees on waste management policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Develop and implement community outreach and education programs to promote waste reduction, recycling, and proper disposal practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in waste management, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop reports to inform waste management decisions.
