Job Overview

The Business Unit Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the success of a business segment at Cartridge Actuated Devices, Inc. This position requires a strategic thinker who can grow the company by working closely with a team focused on meeting customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue profitable new business opportunities, develop proposals, and drive bookings for the Business Unit.
  • Customer Relationships: Foster and maintain excellent relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Value Creation: Drive value for the Business Unit through effective pricing and productivity improvements.
  • Customer Service: Ensure exceptional customer service and contractual performance while meeting cost objectives.
  • Negotiations: Participate in and lead contract negotiations, overseeing customer correspondence and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Proposal Development: Develop proposals for new and repeat business, ensuring fulfillment of technical requirements, including gross margin, terms, conditions, and proposal guidelines.
  • Contractual Commitments: Negotiate contractual commitments with customers as necessary.
  • Liaison Role: Act as the liaison between the customer, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Business Development: Develop relationships with new business accounts while maintaining long-standing relationships with distributors.
  • Performance Management: Ensure performance requirements (technical, schedule, and budget) are met, keep leadership informed, and provide analysis and reports.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a Business-related field.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of experience preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Critical Thinking: Proven ability to demonstrate critical thinking and sound business judgment while prioritizing multiple competing priorities and projects, driving results, and creating real value.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven negotiator with understanding of contract terms and conditions, coupled with the ability to navigate challenging customer situations while performing under high-volume deadlines.
  • Broad Business Knowledge: Broad business knowledge in sales, engineering, finance, and operations.
  • Contract Interpretation: Proven ability to interpret and resolve complex contract terms and conditions in the commercial and defense aerospace industry.
