Position Overview


The Accounts Payable Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial transactions of Nexus Health Systems. This position involves meticulous accounting tasks related to transaction recording and the generation of financial statements and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all elements of the Accounts Payable process at the corporate level across various facilities.
  • Ensure the accuracy of vendor invoices and the associated coding from different departments.
  • Apply appropriate coding and classification of invoices in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for integration into the general ledger.
  • Collaborate with fellow accounting team members to promote efficient data flow and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Complete client-prepared workpapers and schedules as required.
  • Review all company expenses and engage with relevant managers to address any discrepancies.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheets while analyzing and reporting any variances.
  • Make informed payment decisions in collaboration with the Controller, considering the company's cash flow.
  • Manage the company’s accounting system, ensuring comprehensive records of all transactions.
  • Determine allocations for company-wide expenses.
  • Collect and evaluate financial documentation to support banking operations.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new vendors and ensure proper tracking of 1099 employees for annual reporting.
  • Maintain records for significant capital projects and monitor payments to ensure adherence to budget constraints.
  • Possess a solid understanding of accounting principles related to prepaid expenses and capital.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently on detail-oriented tasks.
  • Perform various ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Education: BA/BS Degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in accounts payable or accounting, preferably within the healthcare sector.
