Job Description

Overview

GE Aviation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Product Safety team, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of product safety engineering methodologies and techniques for equipment and devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Safety Engineering: Execute a process to identify and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design to an acceptable level; conduct rigorous safety risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and utilize human factors principles to drive design improvements in order to eliminate human error in the operation and maintenance of the product in the field.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop specialized knowledge in product safety engineering and serve as a best practice/quality resource. Stay up-to-date with the latest technical developments in the field and contribute towards strategy and policy development.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Develop persuasion skills to influence others on topics within the field.
  • Qualifications and Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in design engineering.
    • Ability to maintain or obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance.
  • Desired Characteristics
    • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
    • Product safety experience including risk assessments and hazard evaluations.
    • Earn value management experience.
    • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
