Advanced Product Development Staff Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer to join our Advanced Product Development team at GE Aviation. As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for leading elements of the mechanical design and development for an Edison Works New Product Introduction (NPI) program.
Key Responsibilities- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of engine systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of hot structures design.
- Use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus.
- Apply understanding of business drivers to prioritize and execute assigned objectives.
- Understand how team objectives integrate and contribute to the larger business strategy.
- Drive cross-team initiatives or lead small project teams, managing programmatic risks while executing technical work scope.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support to the team.
- Prepare and present technical data to customers.
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- At least 5 additional years of experience in a relevant aerospace or mechanical engineering position.
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.
- Certification in or background with Material Review Board (MRB) engineering support.
- Experience working in DoD EVM projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in turbomachinery hot structures and system design.
- Significant experience in the design, testing, and certification of turbomachinery.
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
- Expertise in finite element analysis using Ansys, Nastran, or equivalent.
- Expertise with NX software or equivalent CAD software.
- Outstanding mentoring skills and a strong desire to help others succeed.
- Highly motivated, self-starter who is passionate about inventing the next generation of aviation technology.
- Flexible, friendly, and collaborative approach to working in teams.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with structural component design.
- Current/existing US Government Security Clearance.
- Experience with engine/aircraft maintainability and reliability.
- Experience with design quality assurance.
- Experience working with DoD customer and processes.
- Uncompromising desire to ensure the safety of the US military and public as well as that of fellow employees.
