Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Theatre Arts Director to join our team at Fort Bend ISD. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the theatre arts program, ensuring high-quality educational experiences for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive theatre arts curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise theatre arts staff, including teachers and technicians.
  • Oversee the production of theatrical performances, including plays, musicals, and other events.
  • Manage the theatre arts budget, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate theatre arts into the broader curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local arts organizations and community partners.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, Theatre Education, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Valid Teaching Certification issued by the Texas Education Agency, appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment.
  • Theatre Certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience, preferably in theatre arts.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to use social media effectively.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in proper acting techniques in a variety of genres.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public, District staff, and parents.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues on the campus and in the instructional feeder pattern.
  • Ability to market the instructional program.

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
