Job Summary

Viking Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for traveling to customer locations to service, troubleshoot, install, and maintain industry-leading wood fastening machines. This is a full-time non-exempt position that requires regular overtime hours and travel to various customer locations throughout the US and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and assemble all areas of Viking's equipment using drawings, specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Help plan and document installation, service, repair, and assembly procedures.
  • Test equipment to ensure it is working properly.
  • Make slight modifications and/or repairs to equipment.
  • Dismantle equipment for replacement of parts and/or repair parts on the equipment.
  • Installation of Viking's standard equipment offering equipment per schedule.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a related position.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • High mechanical aptitude, problem-solving and troubleshooting ability especially in electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics preferred.
Preferred Software Experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Emerson and B&R Programming Software.
Work Environment

This job operates in an office/manufacturing environment. This role routinely travels to customer manufacturing plant locations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee regularly works around live voltage wiring. The noise level in the manufacturing area of Viking and in most customer locations is moderate to loud.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, and/or feel.
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands, arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to talk and/or hear on a regularly basis when completing the job.
  • Occasionally the employee is required to climb or balance.
  • The employee must regularly be able to lift and move up to 10 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move 25 lbs., and at times lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
