Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Concentra. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our occupational medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine medical procedures, including DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing, under the supervision of a treating clinician.
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and conducting ancillary testing as needed.
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatments, and perform rapid screening tests as required.
  • Triaging emergent patients and preparing and assisting clinicians with procedure setup and injury care.
  • Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered by the treating clinician, and dispense medications and DME as needed.
  • Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Operate and maintain medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record-keeping.
  • Notify supervisors of equipment issues, supply needs, or facility concerns.
  • Participate in patient flow and volume management, and keep patients informed of expected wait times.
  • Perform front office duties, including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, and checking in/out.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules, and attend center staff meetings or huddles as required.
Requirements
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school, or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials.
  • At least six months of medical assistant experience, with knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.
  • Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements, and ability to make decisions or solve problems using logic and critical thinking.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Teamwork focus, with the ability to maintain working relationships with colleagues and center leadership.
