Radiation Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Radiation Therapist to join our team at Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH). As a key member of our Radiation Oncology department, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of new treatment techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver radiation therapy treatment as prescribed by radiation oncologists, ensuring accurate and safe administration.
- Maintain and perform daily quality assurance checks on equipment, ensuring optimal performance and patient safety.
- Manage inventory of department supplies, ensuring timely restocking and minimizing waste.
- Participate in administrative quality assurance checks, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Provide exceptional patient care and education, involving patients and their families in care decisions and maintaining confidentiality and modesty.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
- Monitor patient responses and reactions to treatment, referring patients for appropriate management as needed.
- Accurately document treatment delivery information in the electronic medical record (EMR), ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Utilize the Quality Assurance (QA) program to ensure high-quality treatment and patient care, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Participate in clinical instruction and evaluation of Radiation Therapy Technology students, contributing to the development of future professionals.
- Valid Massachusetts State License in Radiation Therapy
- Valid ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy, obtained within 3 months of employment
- Valid BLS certification
- Proficient technical knowledge and skill set, including efficient operation of equipment and troubleshooting issues
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and families
- Strong customer service skills, with ability to use judgment, independent thinking, and creativity to resolve issues and conflicts
- Ability to work independently, adapt to frequent interruptions, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients under physical and emotional stress, handling sensitive and confidential patient information
- Proficiency in Radiation Oncology Information Systems and software, including ARIA, EPIC, ExacTrac, and Eclipse
