Job Overview:
The individual in this role will provide essential technical and clerical assistance within the department, focusing on the creation and upkeep of various reporting and software systems. Responsibilities include supporting the evaluation, testing, and training of enterprise-wide applications and functions. The position operates under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Patient Financial Services and may require flexibility for additional hours as needed by the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engages in the development, testing, training, and maintenance of departmental software applications, occasionally taking a leadership role. Assists in training personnel from other departments as necessary.
- Utilizes data to compile monthly reports for department managers and administration, covering various metrics related to Revenue Cycle and Patient Financial Services.
- Acts as the primary contact for departmental users regarding system maintenance and support.
- Analyzes issues within computer-based information systems, collaborating with software vendors and users to resolve existing software challenges.
- Prepares, organizes, and maintains spreadsheets, reports, and other departmental documentation.
- Serves as or supports the Safety/Education Representative for multiple cost centers, ensuring compliance with safety training and initiatives.
- Assists with time and attendance management, tracking absenteeism, tardiness, and related personnel matters, reporting significant issues to management.
- Handles personnel documentation with discretion, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Possesses a solid understanding of departmental admitting, registration, and access processes, staying updated on relevant practices.
- Coordinates meetings, schedules appointments, secures meeting spaces, and organizes staff for various engagements, managing all associated documentation.
- Oversees ordering requirements for all cost centers, focusing on cost management and efficiency. Participates in meetings and committees as needed.
- Performs additional duties related to departmental functions as requested.
- Prioritizes tasks and workload effectively, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
- Contributes to a collaborative team atmosphere and supports the organization's mission and values.
- Exhibits strong communication skills across all aspects of the role.
- Takes responsibility for personal and professional development.
- Completes related tasks as required or directed.
Education:
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
- Ability to interact effectively with personnel, physicians, vendors, patients, and their families.
- Prior experience in patient financial services is advantageous.
- 3-5 years of experience in a hospital or customer service/technical role preferred.
- Ability to plan, manage, and evaluate the flow of electronic information. Proficient in personal computer and software applications.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for technical issues with computer systems.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Typing proficiency of at least 45 words per minute with accuracy, along with familiarity with office equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Adaptability to change and new challenges.
