Job Summary: As a key member of our team at Career Systems Development Corporation, the Culinary Specialist will be responsible for preparing center meals, developing menus, and ensuring the quality of food served. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, hospitality, and student satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as relevant state and local regulations.
  • Ensure that all food handling, storage, and area cleanliness meet the highest standards.
  • Prepare daily center meals and ensure they are ready to serve according to schedule.
  • Ensure meals are wholesome and appetizing, meeting the dietary needs of our students.
  • Maintain inventory of foodstuffs and request additional supplies as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly food service reports.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen and dining areas.
  • Maintain daily records of food costs and amount of food used.
  • Assist in serving meals and ensure a positive dining experience for our students.
  • Report any unsafe or unsanitary conditions in the kitchen/dining area.
  • Check morning reports daily to determine food preparation needs.
  • Ensure leftover foods are properly covered, stored, and labeled with date and time.
  • Direct the work of students assigned to this role.
  • Maintain accountability of all knives during shift.
  • Attend staff training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent. One year's experience in institutional food preparation.

Preferred: Certificate of completion from a culinary/food service training program, or an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts. Two or more years' experience in addition to ServeSafe certification.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and good nutrition. Well-developed habits of personal cleanliness and hygiene. Must meet State or local food handling requirements, whichever are more restrictive. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certificates.
