About the Role

South College is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Executive Director of Instructional Design. This key position will play a critical role in shaping the institution's instructional design strategy and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational experiences for our students.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of instructional design initiatives, working closely with the Chief Academic Officer and other stakeholders. This includes researching and analyzing new instructional methodologies and technologies, coordinating the development of policies and procedures, and ensuring the quality of instruction and support services for hybrid and distance learning courses.

The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree in a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design at a post-secondary educational institution. A doctorate in Instructional Technology is preferred. The successful candidate will also have experience in education theory and methodology, as well as strong leadership and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of instructional design initiatives
  • Research and analyze new instructional methodologies and technologies
  • Coordinate the development of policies and procedures related to distance learning
  • Ensure the quality of instruction and support services for hybrid and distance learning courses
  • Supervise the development and design of distance learning courses
  • Provide consultation for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of education curriculum, projects, programs, and initiatives
  • Develop a peer review process for reviewing and evaluating distance learning courses
  • Oversee and provide front-end administration of the Canvas Learning Management System
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate faculty training programs, workshops, and seminars on instructional technologies, teaching and learning strategies and methodologies, as well as distance learning pedagogy and best practices
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in a related field
