Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Records Coordinator to join our team at Consulate Health Care. As a Medical Records Coordinator, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our patients' medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with recognized systems for filing and coding.
  • File information such as nurse's notes, resident's assessments, progress notes, lab reports, x-ray results, and correspondence.
  • Collect, assemble, check, and file resident charts as required.
  • Assist in scheduling assessments in accordance with current facility and OBRA guidelines.
  • Review records to ensure ICD-9-CM coding is complete.
  • Respond to requests for medical records copies and provide material in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as legal aspects of health information.
  • On-the-job training provided in medical record and health information system procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Certified Medical Records Practitioner preferred.
  • Documented training, supervision, and experience in maintenance of medical records and ICD-10CM/DRG coding.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
