The Senior Child Well-Being Specialist serves as the primary contact for issues related to child welfare at DHS locations.


Key Responsibilities:


Provide expert advisement and decision-making support concerning child welfare, while effectively communicating program details to leadership. Oversee all program-related matters, offering professional insights, technical expertise, and assistance regarding sector-wide issues related to child welfare and trauma-informed care. Facilitate coordination for special cases that may be escalated by the Child Well-Being Specialist, ensuring connections across local, state, and federal resources. Collaborate with leadership and relevant stakeholders to coordinate care and expedite placements. Maintain an updated surge support deployment strategy and manage the deployment of Child Well-Being Specialists for surge support activities as required. Work closely with management on reporting obligations, implementing initiatives, and addressing information requests. Provide ongoing guidance to ensure continuity of care, eliminate redundancy, and synchronize activities across the entire child welfare program operational footprint. Respond to information requests by delivering routine process and outcome metrics reports to assist in monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness. Undertake additional duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge and Skills:


Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to support multiple sites through continuous communication and assessment data review. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with site and government personnel. Capacity to operate in a dynamic environment while developing a new program. Excellent collaboration and communication abilities. Strong project prioritization and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and good research capabilities. Flexibility in working hours.


Operational Hours:

We operate 24/7/365.


Education and Experience:


Master's degree in behavioral health or a related field; a doctoral degree is preferred. Licensed Social Worker (LCSW or LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Doctoral-level psychologist (LP), or equivalent licensure in the state(s). A minimum of 5 years of experience in child development, culturally competent and trauma-informed care, with hands-on clinical evaluations involving children and their families. At least 2 years of management experience in leading and supervising staff. Prior experience in cultural humility, child development, trauma-informed care, and psychological distress training is preferred but not mandatory. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are preferred. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS). Successful completion of a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and background check is required upon accepting a conditional employment offer.
