Job Title: DC-Registered Nurse

St. John's Community Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate DC-Registered Nurse to join our team in Washington, DC. As a key member of our clinical services team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional healthcare and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or pervasive development disorders.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time position that requires a current Registered Nurse license in DC/DMV and 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or pervasive development disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with our management team and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide maintenance of monthly medical notes, nursing assessments, and other documentation related to medication use, general health status, and emergency procedures for assigned caseload.
  • Consult with physicians, pharmacies, and other medical personnel on individual needs and relay necessary treatment information to staff to ensure follow-up on such needs.
  • Conduct monthly observations of individuals identified with acute/significant medical needs and follows for Medical Services review, providing documentation as applicable/required.
  • Provide consultation and practical advice to management and staff regarding routine medical issues and concerns.
  • Provide state-approved Medication Administration training for staff as required by DC state law.
  • Assess staff needs regarding medication administration protocols and develops programs to minimize staff medication errors.
  • Assist management in evaluating staff compliance with DC State medication management regulations according to physician's instruction and state law.
Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse license in DC/DMV required.
  • Certified Developmental Disability Nurse (CDDN) certification is a plus.
  • Requires 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or pervasive development disorders or 2 years of experience working as a Community Based Nurse.
  • Experience with or working knowledge of DC regulations preferred.
