Role Summary

This role operates under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer Supervisor/Manager, serving as a uniformed first responder. The individual will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of facility and departmental protocols to ensure the safety, protection, and security of clients, equipment, and the physical environment.

Furthermore, this position contributes to the treatment of clients that is centered around family involvement and youth direction.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

A High School diploma or an equivalent certificate recognized by the Maryland State Board of Education as stipulated in the Correctional Training Commission regulations.


Experience:
No prior experience is required.

Note:

The educational requirement is established by the Police and Correctional Training Commission in accordance with the Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.



LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Employees in this role may be assigned responsibilities that necessitate the operation of a motor vehicle. A valid motor vehicle operator's license in the State of Maryland is required for such duties.
  • Some positions may involve operating larger vehicles for patient transport. Employees assigned these tasks must obtain a Maryland driver's license of the appropriate class.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees must fulfill the selection criteria and successfully complete the training mandated by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a Correctional Officer during their probationary period. The selection standards for correctional officer training are detailed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01 and include:

  • U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • A completed background investigation
  • Oral interview
  • Physical examination
