Internship Overview:
This internship is part of the DoD SkillBridge Program, specifically designed for transitioning active-duty military personnel. It offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional environment during the final phase of military service.

The intern will engage in significant projects under the guidance of a mentor and senior leadership, focusing on skills and knowledge applicable to future employment opportunities within HII.

Role Responsibilities:
The intern will train as an Engineering Technician 3, gaining insights into the maintenance and operational duties required of Engineering Technicians. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with technical support for engineers on various tasks.
  • Gathering, maintaining, and analyzing technical data, including test results and design changes.
  • Producing engineering documentation, reports, and schematics.
  • Conducting mathematical calculations and preliminary data analyses.
  • Participating in tests and recording data for engineering evaluations.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the internship, the intern will:

  • Understand the operational framework of the department.
  • Learn to address engineering challenges through established protocols.
  • Coordinate with trades personnel to resolve technical deficiencies.
  • Utilize safety manuals to ensure compliance and quality standards.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be active-duty military personnel within their final 180 days of service, with a Secret Clearance. Experience in Navy Reactor Departments is preferred, along with relevant military training.
