Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II- PRN to join our team at Medstar. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and fill routine orders for prescribed medications, adhering to strict quality and safety standards.
  • Restock automated dispensing machines and maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Repackage medications and compound both sterile and non-sterile medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Participate in the exchange of information with healthcare professionals and staff to ensure safe medication management.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives, adhering to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  • Ensure medications are properly and safely stored throughout the hospital, adhering to laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the hospital's medication management system for risk points and identify areas to improve safety.
  • Safely and accurately prepare all medications in the most ready to administer form, using proper techniques, calculations, and precautions.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of an approved/accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
  • 1 year 6 months related pharmacy technician experience and hospital environment experience preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Board of Pharmacy required; Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification within 180 Days required.
