Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at MedStar Health. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and fill routine orders for prescribed medications, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Restock automated dispensing machines and repack medications as needed.
  • Compound both sterile and non-sterile medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Abide by regulatory guidelines and recommendations for safe medication practices, including look-alike, sound-alike, and high-alert drugs.
  • Participate in meetings and committees, representing the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives, adhering to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an approved/accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
  • Less than 1 year 6 months related pharmacy technician experience and hospital environment experience preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Board of Pharmacy required; Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification within 180 Days required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of drug nomenclature and medical terminology; proficiency in basic mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
Compensation

This position has a hiring range of $31.36.
