Job Summary

Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) is a community-owned water utility that provides high-quality drinking water to over 400,000 residents in the Truckee Meadows area. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Water Operations department as an Apprentice Water Plant Operator.

Responsibilities
  • Assist experienced personnel in the operation of water treatment plants and distribution systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct water quality tests and analyze results to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Operate pumps, valves, and other equipment to control water flow and pressure.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant operations, test results, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Pass a substance screening and background check.
  • Obtain and maintain required driver's license within 30 days of hire.
  • Pass the WorkKeys Assessments with minimum scores of 6 in Applied Math, 5 in Graphic Literacy, 5 in Workplace Documents, and 5 in Applied Technology.
Working Conditions

The Apprentice Water Plant Operator will work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures, humidity, and noise levels. The position requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The individual must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
