Position Overview:

The Civil Construction Superintendent is tasked with overseeing the field planning and management of bridge-related construction projects. This role is crucial in ensuring that both the quality of work and materials meet the established standards while adhering to the project timeline and enforcing the safety protocols set forth by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to organize and strategize project tasks as needed.
  • Maintain direct oversight of labor and equipment time sheets, along with daily reports detailing quantities worked.
  • Foster and sustain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Manage and uphold the overall bridge construction schedule.
  • Monitor crew productivity and objectives on a daily basis.
  • Review monthly cost reports, initiate field change requests, and prepare vendor or subcontractor back charges in conjunction with the Project Manager/Project Engineer.
  • Uphold quality control measures and enforce safety policies across all construction activities.
  • Adhere to the project construction timeline to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Prepare and submit weekly accountability reports.
  • Understand payment parameters and specifications by item thoroughly.
  • Provide the General Superintendent with a three-week look-ahead schedule.
  • Conduct daily team meetings, stretching sessions, and weekly safety discussions with the crew.
  • Prepare Job Hazard Analysis prior to the commencement of new work activities and review them with the crew.
  • Collaborate with Foremen to develop material handling strategies.
  • Identify additional work or changes in conditions and report these to the Project Manager/Project Engineer.
  • Ensure that delivery receipts are collected and submitted to field engineers.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Construction is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in the civil construction industry.
  • Proficient in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality assurance, and production across all phases of bridge construction.
  • OSHA 10 certification is required.
