The Superintendent Rail is a key position within The Middlesex Corporation, responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and execution of heavy rail infrastructure construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of safety protocols, quality control, and project management principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety throughout the project team.
  • Collaborate with project managers to plan and organize job activities, ensuring timely completion and quality of work.
  • Directly oversee labor and equipment time sheets, daily reports, and client/subcontractor relationships.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive bridge schedule, monitoring productivity and goals on a daily basis.
  • Review and submit cost reports, initiate field change requests, and prepare vendor/subcontractor back charges.
  • Enforce quality control and safety policies on all aspects of construction, adhering to project schedules and processes.
  • Conduct daily huddles, stretching exercises, and weekly tool box talks with crew members.
  • Develop material handling plans with foremen and identify extra work or changes in conditions.
  • Ensure delivery receipts are collected and submitted to field engineers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy civil track/rail construction.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Knowledge of ballasted, embedded track, and transit operations, including railroad industry safety standards, material procurement, and labor contracts.
  • Extensive experience in track repair, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and installation.
  • Ability to schedule track outages with work train usage and power removal.
  • Capable of estimating manpower and material support for operating and capital work, providing required tooling and equipment.
