Position Overview:

The Rail Superintendent is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and oversight of personnel and activities related to infrastructure construction and operations. This role ensures that work quality and material standards are maintained while adhering to project timelines and enforcing the company's safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring that all incidents, accidents, and near misses are reported in alignment with our core value of prioritizing safety.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to organize and plan job tasks effectively.
  • Oversee timekeeping for labor and equipment, along with daily reporting that includes quantities worked.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Manage and uphold the overall project schedule.
  • Monitor crew productivity and set daily performance goals.
  • Review monthly cost reports, initiate field change requests, and prepare necessary back charges in conjunction with the Project Manager/Project Engineer.
  • Enforce quality control measures and company safety standards throughout all construction phases.
  • Ensure adherence to the project construction timeline to guarantee timely completion of work.
  • Submit weekly accountability reports to management.
  • Understand payment parameters and specifications thoroughly.
  • Provide a three-week look-ahead schedule to the General Superintendent.
  • Conduct daily team meetings, stretching sessions, and weekly safety talks.
  • Prepare Job Hazard Analyses for new work activities and review them with the team.
  • Develop material handling strategies in collaboration with Foremen.
  • Identify additional work or changes in conditions and communicate these to the Project Manager/Project Engineer.
  • Ensure collection and submission of delivery receipts to field engineers.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a heavy civil track or rail construction environment.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of ballasted and embedded track systems, along with safety standards relevant to the railroad industry.
  • Extensive experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of track and infrastructure components within rapid transit systems.
  • Ability to coordinate track outages effectively, including work train usage and power removal.
  • Proficient in estimating manpower and material requirements for operational and capital projects.
