Overview

Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is seeking a skilled Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist to join our team in a hospital-based position.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to patients in the hospital setting, working collaboratively with medical, surgical, emergency, and social work services.
  • Address complex medical and behavioral health needs of patients, including delirium, mood, psychotic, anxiety, substance use, and somatic symptom disorders.
  • Work closely with patients under Involuntary Treatment Act with Single Bed Certification.
  • Contribute to the education of clinical teams about behavioral health care, including multiple residency programs.
  • Collaborate with physician and advanced practitioners, medical and surgical trainees, nurses, social work, and other health professionals in a team-based environment.
Schedule/Call

The consult psychiatry team works weekdays, taking consults from 9-5:30 pm or 8-4:30 pm, 5 days per week. There are no overnight or weekend responsibilities for team members, as this is currently covered by an outside tele psychiatry service.

Qualifications
  • BE/BC Psychiatrist, with Fellowship training and BC/BE in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA.
  • Ability to obtain a DEA license with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice.
