Residential Support Specialist

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Specialists to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing direct care and support to residents in our residential program.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to residents.
  • Implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Maintain a safe and clean living environment for residents.
  • Document resident progress and behaviors accurately.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Transport residents to appointments and activities as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Possess a valid Texas Driver's License, reliable transportation that meets all state requirements, and current liability insurance.
  • Ability to assist with tasks requiring physical strength, such as lifting up to 55 pounds.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs and remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality care and support to residents.
Special Projects:
  • Assist your supervisor with special projects as assigned. Complete all tasks within the agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor, related to the program and position.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Environmental Conditions:

Physical:

  • Ability to transport, adjust, and move items weighing up to 55 pounds.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle objects and operate office equipment.
  • Ability to move within an office setting and other locations as needed, including bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to push/pull, crawl/squat, and perform PMAB restraints as required by program needs.
  • Ability to detect and write effectively.
  • Ability to hear (with or without aid).
  • Ability to have visual acuity sufficient for operating a motor vehicle and observing objects within a work setting.

Mental:

  • Ability to accept constructive criticism.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance.
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and comprehend information accurately in English.
  • Ability to reason and analyze effectively.
  • Ability to solve practical problems related to the position.
  • Required to pass and maintain all center-mandated training.

Work Site/Environmental Conditions:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to work closely with clients and/or family members who may have poor hygiene.
  • Ability to work long and/or irregular hours.
  • May encounter a hostile environment.
  • May be exposed to a high-crime environment.
