Job Title: Residential Support Friday

Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides educational services to individuals with autism, a day program for adults, and four group homes for adults unable to live in their own home. This position will provide direct support to the residential program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the assigned residential home, through coordination of house duties and implementation of each individual's IEP/IPP.
  • Implement target goals and objectives as written on the individual's IEP/IPP.
  • Keep daily data and records on each individual's performance.
  • Provide/supervise daily nutritional, health, and hygiene care for all individuals assigned.
  • Ensure sufficient food is in each residence for emergencies and to enable staff to follow designated menus and ensuring sufficient cleaning supplies are available in each residence to enable proper cleaning.
  • Accompany residents to routine and emergency doctor's appointments.
  • Daily correspondence to appropriate persons as needed.
  • Supervise self-administration of medication program.
  • Ensure resident participation in community-based instruction (CBI) including grocery and supply shopping and other recreational outings.
  • Attend all in-service training classes as scheduled.
  • Ensure completion and entry into Reboot system of daily house documentation, to include but not limited to fire drill reports, daily progress notes, cleaning checklists, incident reports, medication administration, attendance records, and other documents as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of entire residence at all times.
  • Maintain organization of bedrooms, including closets and drawers.
  • Work with staff throughout Avondale House to meet the needs of each client.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a residential setting, preferably with individuals with autism or related handicapping conditions.
  • CPR certified.
  • Patient, authoritative personality.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to work in a way that demonstrates Avondale House's Core Values: Commitment, Achievement, Respect, Integrity, Nurturing, and Growth.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Lifting/Moving up to 50 lbs and lifting moving up to 100 plus lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time.
  • Stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, kneeling, running, pushing, and pulling may be required in this position.
  • Must be able to handle situations that may be stressful at times.
