Position Overview

Peterson Cat is seeking a Tax Compliance Specialist.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Tax Compliance Specialist is tasked with maintaining tax documentation and aiding in the preparation of tax filings, schedules, and reports. This role focuses on property taxation and other local initiatives. The Specialist is responsible for preparing documentation for local, state, and federal tax submissions within designated timelines. The Tax Compliance Specialist also supports all treasury operations related to taxation, including accruals, filings, payments, reporting, and audits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following outlines the essential functions of this role, though it does not limit the tasks that may be assigned. Management may allocate or reassign functions as necessary. Responsibilities include:
  • Oversee daily tax operations.
  • Collect data and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual tax obligations, while processing, reviewing, auditing, and tracking returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax payments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, advisors, and tax authorities) to guarantee tax compliance.
  • Prepare journal entries for accruals, deferrals, and other tax-related records.
  • Reconcile accruals and financial records against estimates, statements, payments, and tax filings.
  • Work with auditors, advisors, and tax authorities to facilitate tax returns, extensions, and related tasks.
  • Compile data for audits and liaise with auditors to ensure adherence to tax regulations.
  • Generate treasury and transaction reports, maintaining comprehensive, supported, and accurate records for all tax-related projects.
  • Monitor and update tax documentation and information.
  • Assist with daily cash management tasks, conduct research, and perform ad hoc assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

An Associate's Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business, Business Administration, or a closely related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, including at least one year in taxation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
