Dodge & Cox is in search of a skilled tax professional to enhance the Corporate Treasury division. The main responsibilities of this position encompass assisting the tax manager with the annual tax compliance cycle, conducting tax research, managing tax audits, handling business registrations, and preparing various reports. This role offers a valuable opportunity to expand knowledge across a wide spectrum of taxation, including federal, state, international, transfer pricing, and other tax-related issues.

The Tax Analyst will report directly to the Tax Manager at Dodge & Cox.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare supporting calculations and review federal and state income tax returns along with estimated tax payment calculations.
  • Prepare and submit various state gross receipts returns.
  • Conduct research and resolve income tax-related inquiries.
  • Review (or prepare and submit) various VAT returns for international jurisdictions including China, Germany, and the UK.
  • Calculate quarterly and annual tax provisions for both stand-alone and consolidated entities.
  • Assist in the annual global transfer pricing documentation process.
  • Compile annual business property reports.
  • Respond to information requests from various tax authorities.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules for GAAP and tax reporting purposes.
Qualifications

Dodge & Cox seeks candidates who demonstrate high levels of academic and professional success along with leadership capabilities.
  • A four-year college degree; CPA certification or progress towards CPA is advantageous.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in tax compliance or consulting.
  • Preference for candidates with tax experience in the financial services sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and interpret federal and state income tax regulations.
  • Experience with multi-state pass-through entities is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with specialized tax research databases and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment as well as independently when necessary.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
The salary range for this position is $130k - $170k.

The stated pay scale reflects only the base salary range and does not encompass discretionary bonus compensation, which may constitute a significant portion of the total remuneration. Dodge & Cox encourages applicants to consider the value of the competitive benefits provided, including full coverage of healthcare premiums for employees and their families, as well as a fully funded retirement plan at 25% of the total compensation up to IRS limits. The listed pay scale represents the base salary Dodge & Cox anticipates for this role and does not indicate the highest or lowest base salary of any current employee. Actual base salary will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's relevant experience, education, skills, and knowledge.
