Evening Security Officer for Adult Education

Position Overview:
The Evening Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere at the adult education facility during evening hours. This position entails overseeing the building's access points, conducting regular patrols, addressing incidents, and safeguarding the well-being of all individuals present. The Evening Security Officer is an essential member of the team, responsible for upholding facility policies and offering assistance to both staff and students as required.
Key Duties:
- Building Surveillance: Monitor the security of the premises by controlling access points and ensuring that only authorized personnel enter the facility.
- Regular Patrols: Perform routine inspections of both the interior and exterior areas to identify and deter any suspicious activities.
- Emergency Response: Act swiftly to any incidents, emergencies, or security threats, taking necessary actions to ensure the safety of everyone on-site.
- Visible Security Presence: Maintain a prominent presence within the building to discourage potential security issues and to reassure staff, students, and visitors.
- Policy Implementation: Aid in the enforcement of facility rules and regulations, including verifying identities, managing access, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Assistance to Staff and Students: Offer help and support to staff, students, and visitors as needed, including providing directions, answering inquiries, and addressing concerns.
- Incident Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of any incidents, security breaches, or unusual occurrences during the shift, and communicate these to the relevant authorities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Strong observational abilities, capacity to remain composed under pressure, and effective communication skills.
- Certifications: Security guard certification or license, as mandated by state law is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods; ability to respond promptly to emergencies.
- Availability: Must be available to work evening hours, including some weekends as necessary.
Working Environment:
This role requires working both indoors and outdoors, often in a standing or walking position for the majority of the shift. The Evening Security Officer must be prepared to respond to emergencies and manage potentially stressful situations.
