Position Summary:
The Evening Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere at the adult education facility during evening operations. This position involves overseeing the building's access points, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, and safeguarding the well-being of all individuals present. The Evening Security Officer is an essential member of the team, tasked with upholding facility regulations and providing assistance to both staff and students as necessary.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Building Surveillance: Monitor the security of the premises by controlling access points and ensuring that only authorized personnel enter the facility.
- Regular Patrols: Execute routine patrols of both the interior and exterior areas to deter and identify any suspicious or unusual activities.
- Emergency Response: Act swiftly to any incidents, emergencies, or security breaches, taking appropriate measures to resolve situations while prioritizing the safety of all individuals on-site.
- Visible Security Presence: Maintain a prominent presence within the building to deter potential security threats and instill a sense of safety among staff, students, and visitors.
- Policy Implementation: Aid in the enforcement of facility policies and procedures, including verifying identification, managing access control, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Assistance to Staff and Students: Offer support and guidance to staff, students, and visitors as required, including providing directions, answering inquiries, and addressing concerns.
- Incident Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of any incidents, security breaches, or unusual occurrences during the shift, reporting these to the appropriate authorities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Strong observational abilities, capacity to remain composed under pressure, and effective communication skills.
- Certifications: Security guard certification or license, as mandated by state law, is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods; capability to respond quickly to emergencies.
- Availability: Must be available to work evening hours, including some weekends as needed.
Working Environment:
This role necessitates working both indoors and outdoors, often in a standing or walking position for the majority of the shift. The Evening Security Officer must be prepared to respond to emergencies and manage potentially stressful situations.
