Job Overview:
The Evening Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere at the adult education facility during evening hours. This position involves overseeing the premises, monitoring access points, responding to incidents, and ensuring the safety of all individuals present.
The Evening Security Officer is an essential part of the team, tasked with enforcing facility policies and providing assistance to both staff and students as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Oversight:
Ensure the security of the building by monitoring all access points, confirming that only authorized personnel enter the premises.
Patrol Duties:
Perform regular patrols of both the interior and exterior areas to deter and identify any unusual or suspicious activities.
Incident Management:
React swiftly to any incidents, emergencies, or security violations, taking appropriate measures to resolve the situation while prioritizing the safety of all individuals on-site.
Visible Security Presence:
Maintain a noticeable presence within the building to deter potential security threats and provide reassurance to staff, students, and visitors.
Policy Compliance:
Aid in the enforcement of facility policies and procedures, including verifying identification, managing access control, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
Support for Staff and Students:
Offer assistance and support to staff, students, and visitors as required, including providing directions, answering inquiries, and addressing concerns.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of any incidents, security breaches, or unusual occurrences during the shift, and report these to the appropriate authorities.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
Skills:
Strong observational abilities, capacity to remain composed under pressure, and effective communication skills.
Certifications:
Security guard certification or license, as mandated by state law, is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods; ability to respond promptly to emergencies.
Availability:
Must be available to work evening hours, including some weekends as needed.
Working Conditions:
This role requires working both indoors and outdoors, often in a standing or walking position for the majority of the shift. The Evening Security Officer must be prepared to respond to emergencies and manage potentially stressful situations.
