Evening Security Officer for Adult Education

Position Summary:
The Evening Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere at the adult education facility during evening operations. This position involves overseeing the entrances and exits of the building, conducting regular patrols, responding to various incidents, and ensuring the safety of all individuals present. The Evening Security Officer is an essential part of the team, responsible for upholding building regulations and providing assistance to both staff and students as necessary.
Key Duties:
- Facility Oversight: Monitor the security of the premises by controlling access points and ensuring that only authorized personnel enter the facility.
- Patrol Duties: Perform routine patrols of both the interior and exterior areas to identify and deter any suspicious activities.
- Incident Management: Act swiftly in response to any emergencies or security incidents, taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of everyone on-site.
- Visible Security Presence: Maintain a prominent presence within the building to discourage potential security threats and to foster a sense of safety among staff, students, and visitors.
- Policy Compliance: Aid in the enforcement of building policies and procedures, including verifying identification and managing access control.
- Support for Staff and Students: Offer assistance and guidance to staff, students, and visitors, addressing inquiries and concerns as they arise.
- Incident Reporting: Document any incidents, security breaches, or unusual occurrences during the shift and report them to the appropriate authorities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Strong observational abilities, capacity to remain composed under pressure, and effective communication skills.
- Certifications: Security guard certification or license, as mandated by state law, is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods; capability to respond quickly to emergencies.
- Availability: Must be willing to work evening hours, including some weekends as necessary.
Working Environment:
This role requires working both indoors and outdoors, often in a standing or walking position for the majority of the shift. The Evening Security Officer must be prepared to respond to emergencies and manage potentially high-pressure situations.
