Job Description

The Underwriting Consultant II plays a crucial role in assessing risk and determining the suitability of cases for our company. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough risk reviews and underwriting assessments to determine risk acceptability for new business, renewals, endorsements, and reinstatements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Phones and Processing teams on regular exceptions, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Implement underwriting procedures to achieve growth and profit objectives, ensuring alignment with company policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and processing teams to develop and implement new business and renewal strategies, including product decisions and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, philosophies, and decisions, communicating with Pricing, Marketing, Compliance, and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze internal and external data to inform pricing, underwriting, and sales decisions, ensuring data-driven insights drive business growth.
  • Monitor and analyze the quality of assigned books of business, identifying areas for improvement and recommending actions to enhance results.
  • Assist with agent rehabilitation and provide support to CV agents, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Develop knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations applicable to commercial vehicle underwriting, serving as a subject matter expert for agents and underwriters.

Education

Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience

2+ years of experience in underwriting or a related field preferred.

Compensation

Salary range: $50,000 - $125,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
