About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Surety Underwriting Operations to join our team at Nationwide. As a key member of our Property and Casualty team, you will be responsible for leading our surety underwriting operations and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth market research to inform policy and practice decisions.
  • Develop and implement standard methodologies for underwriting operations.
  • Manage underwriting processes and staff, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Lead annual agent segmentation process to identify Premier and Partner agents.
  • Support directors with underwriting activities and provide guidance to underwriters.
  • Participate in annual budget forecasting and work with sales and underwriting groups to align strategies.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with leadership, underwriting management, sales/agents, and other field/home office operations.
Requirements
  • 10 years of experience in surety underwriting, including at least 5 years of management or consultant experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, insurance, risk management, economics, or finance.
  • Actively pursuing AFSB, CPCU, or other related insurance certification.
  • Commercial Surety & Fidelity Products, credit/collections, rating, and related functions knowledge.
  • Decision-making ability and leadership skills.
