We are in search of a skilled and driven individual to take on the role of Territory Underwriting Specialist. In this position, you will be responsible for marketing and underwriting Sentry's offerings to select independent agents and brokers within a designated region.

Key Responsibilities

As a Territory Underwriting Specialist, your primary focus will be on building and maintaining relationships with agents and brokers. The ideal candidate will operate remotely and should be based in the Northern Texas area.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with select agents and brokers to solicit new accounts.
  • Assessing, underwriting, and pricing potential accounts for independent agents.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for assigned agents and brokers.
  • Providing expert sales support to enhance production through agency networks.
  • Collaborating with agents and brokers to resolve issues effectively.

Additionally, you will:

  • Identify new business opportunities through appointed commercial lines independent agents or in response to inquiries.
  • Analyze risks and manage a portfolio of business within your authority levels.
  • Evaluate prospective accounts and agencies to determine their suitability.
  • Coordinate with various departments, including Underwriting, Loss Control, and Claims, to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
  • Foster strong relationships with agents to develop profitable business.
  • Promote Sentry's products and services to both existing and potential clients.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-line middle market underwriting, particularly in construction, manufacturing, wholesale, real estate, and service sectors.
  • Familiarity with the Dallas/Fort Worth market and established relationships with independent agents.
  • Previous experience in technical insurance roles, ideally with a sales focus.
  • Proficiency in underwriting complex accounts.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Strong abilities in business development and pipeline management.
  • Willingness to travel for business development and client meetings.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
