Job Summary:
The Clinical Assistant Professor in the Hospital Medicine track is tasked with delivering comprehensive in-patient medical care to adult patients across various medical and surgical services. This role also encompasses providing both in-patient and out-patient medical consultations in diverse environments. Additionally, the position involves active participation in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, along with leading educational or administrative initiatives within the Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct care to adult non-surgical hospitalized patients.
  • Provide consultations for hospitalized patients across all services.
  • Coordinate care with internal medicine subspecialties.
  • Offer telephone consultations for patients not admitted to service units.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects.
  • Participate in committee activities.
  • Contribute to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Lead academic projects focused on education, quality, safety, or administrative functions within the division/department.

Qualifications:
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine.
  • Doctorate in Medicine (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited internal medicine residency.
  • Possession of a valid and unrestricted Florida Medical License or eligibility to apply.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Commitment to continuing medical education to fulfill institutional and state licensing requirements.
  • Strong clinical acumen and experience to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in accordance with institutional standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff, patients, and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill the responsibilities associated with the position.

Working Conditions:
  • Availability to work on weekends, nights, and holidays as required by the Division.

Work Environment:
  • Ability to respond physically when on-call.
  • Compliance with safety and infection control protocols to minimize risk to employees.
