Job Title: Senior Media Specialist

Public Health Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Media Specialist to join its Press unit within the Health Department's Office of External Affairs. This role will work at the Health Department's Press office, which operates at a high volume, 24/7 shop that serves as the main point of contact for local, national, and international media.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of announcements and product releases in collaboration with divisional and programmatic leads.
  • Manage and distribute up-to-date messaging documents, including briefing packages and talking points.
  • Review and edit press materials to ensure they are well-written, concise, and consistent with the agency's style and work.
  • Work with the agency's programs and bureaus to ensure that all external materials are easily understandable by their target audiences.
  • Manage a wide range of editorial projects from draft to completion, working with internal subject matter experts and members of the media.
  • Ensure that the NYC Health brand and content is used consistently and appropriately on all external materials.
  • Manage the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the press office.
Requirements:
  • A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in English, journalism, or public relations and two (2) years of full-time paid experience in public relations, journalism, or advertising.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment with hard deadlines.
