About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at the University of Missouri Health Care. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and functionality of our medical instruments.

Responsibilities
  • Disassemble, clean, assemble, and test instrumentation for proper functioning.
  • Assist with teaching of new hires and work as a resource person for other staff and units in the hospital.
  • Perform and participate in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling, and packaging of medical/surgical materials, including instruments and equipment, according to established standards and procedures.
  • Prepare trays and specialty carts for designated areas according to prescribed procedures.
  • Wrap and/or package items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for those designated areas.
  • Operate instrument tracking systems.
  • Use knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment to choose the appropriate material for sterilization processes.
  • Assist in the maintenance of supply and materials inventory, including documenting usage, issuing, receiving, and recording as assigned.
Requirements
  • One (1) year of experience as a surgical sterilization tech.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or surgical technologist program graduation may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification by HSPA within one (1) year of hire as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of some college work.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
