Sterile Processing Technician, Richland, Evening Shift

As a Sterile Processing Technician at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will make a significant difference in the lives of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, sort, and process contaminated instruments and equipment, following established procedures and guidelines.
- Disassemble and clean complex instruments, supplies, and equipment, and inspect them for damage or needed repairs.
- Select the appropriate decontamination method for each item and follow the necessary steps for reprocessing.
- Assemble and prepare instrument trays, surgical instruments, equipment, and specialty items, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Document all activities related to instrument/equipment decontamination, assembly, disinfection, and sterilization in the Instrument Tracking System.
- Monitor and record biological, mechanical, and chemical test results, and initiate recalls as necessary.
- Issue items to customers and departments according to established procedures.
- Report any unfamiliar items or equipment requiring repair to your supervisor.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to patient safety. The ideal candidate will have completed a job-related training program in Surgical Tech, Sterile Processing Tech, or Dental Assistant, and possess a strong understanding of sterile processing procedures and guidelines.
Certification as a CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from HSPA or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician) from CBSPD is preferred. Applicants without sterile processing certification are required to obtain CRCST certification via HSPA within one year of meeting the eligibility requirements.
Work EnvironmentThis is a non-management position that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong communication and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent customer service to our patients and healthcare teams.
