Position Overview
This role is for a GS IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) within the Army National Guard Units. This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position, which is classified as an Indefinite appointment and is non-bargaining.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee designated servers and their resources.
- Analyze and define system requirements, monitor workload, and assess capacity and performance.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to servers and server resources.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers to meet business processing needs, ensuring stability through rigorous testing.
- Upgrade operating systems and software packages, ensuring compatibility with existing standards prior to installation.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of hardware and software configurations.
- Conduct audits of hardware and software to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Monitor the performance, capacity, availability, and recoverability of installed servers and associated resources.
- Address hardware/software interface issues and ensure optimal server functionality and efficiency.
- Provide technical support to users to minimize disruptions in operations.
- Offer training to users to enhance their understanding of system relationships and operations.
- Test and analyze system malfunctions to identify and resolve processing issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting problems related to hardware or software deliveries.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service or comparable experience in the private sector.
- Thorough knowledge of various operating systems on desktops and servers, along with experience in system administration of server platforms and virtual machine infrastructure.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues across interdependent computer platforms.
- Strong skills in modifying application code and implementing software patches.
- Excellent attention to detail, customer service skills, oral communication abilities, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Current possession of a Security+ Certification and the ability to maintain a SECRET security clearance.
